Request an independent review of a decision.

An appeal is a request to reconsider a validation or verification decision. It is not a complaint about service quality or conduct.

What an appeal must contain

Four things, or it cannot be assessed.

  • The specific decision being challenged.
  • The grounds — why the decision is said to be wrong.
  • The outcome sought.
  • The supporting evidence, including any new admissible evidence.

  1. Receipt and case reference

    Logged, with a case reference issued to the appellant.

  2. Eligibility and filing period

    Whether the decision is appealable and whether the appeal was filed within the period.

  3. Effect on the decision

    Filing an appeal does not suspend the decision unless the procedure states otherwise.

  4. Appointment

    Independent competent personnel are appointed. Anyone involved in the challenged activity, its review or its decision cannot decide the appeal.

  5. Review

    The challenged record is reviewed together with any new admissible evidence.

  6. Decision and reasons

    The decision is given in writing with its reasons, and the case is closed.

Supporting evidence
Accepted: PDF, Excel, CSV, Word, ZIP, images. Maximum 25 MB per file. Do not attach personal data the request does not require.
    A file exceeds the permitted size.
    Time limit: an appeal is lodged within 45 working days of the date of the decision or of the withdrawal of the statement.
    What we commit to: an automatic acknowledgement carrying a reference on submission · an initial response within 5 working days · closure within 30 working days of receipt · examination and decision by people independent of those who carried out the work or took the decision · and if you are not satisfied with the resolution, the right to escalate to the accreditation body (EGAC).

    A case reference is issued on receipt, and the outcome is given in writing.
